That’s a lovely ending (I should say new beginning) to a tragic day. We have been there so many times. We’ve raised many fowl on our place and lost some dear ones to predators. It’s a complete heartbreak and how the tears flow! But on farms there is always new life. I hope the young ones are doing beautifully.

We have Khaki Campbells, too, and lost one to a fox just a few weeks ago. Ours were raised from ag store ducklings, too.

Yup…tears in these farm girl eyes, too…why wouldn’t we have love for the things that bring us joy and fill our heart…even though as you say, we learned on the farm to keep some distance.
This is beautiful…I think you should write a screen play for an animated film…truly…it’s about life and it’s ups and downs…and something good DOES come out of something ‘bad’.
Enjoy the new babies…maybe there will be a Biggie 2 and Lacy 2…?
